PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES- Thank you very much to all who were able to attend our parent/teacher conferences. It is always a pleasure to the opportunity to update you on how your child is doing. In the event you were unable to attend or you did not have the opportunity to meet with a particular teacher, please feel free to email him/her directly to schedule a time to talk. Likewise if there are any issues or questions you would like to discuss with me, you are more than welcome to contact me at your convenience as well.

MARCH MADNESS BASKETBALL GAME- Don’t forget that tonight is the big game!! We have an All Star line-up of staff ready to take on our eighth grade boys’ and girls’ basketball players. Tickets will be available at the door as well concessions. It is sure to be a really fun time, and I hope you will come on down to check it out!!

ROBOTICS AND MICRO-COMPUTING DAY- The Ledyard Public Libraries are holding their first Robotics and Micro-computing Day at the Bill Library on Sunday, March 26th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.  New London County community members, schools, workplaces, etc. are all invited to bring their robotics and/or Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or other microcomputer-driven projects for display or demonstration. The idea is that makers of all ages and skill levels can enjoy learning from each other, and that public can see some of the work that students, businesses, and other makers have created. Projects that are in progress are welcome. Please see the attached flier for more information.

CREW CLUB- Crew Club. Is your child an eighth grade student interested in trying out for one of the fastest growing sports in America? If so, s/he is encouraged to join members of the LHS Crew Club as they participate in rowing classes this spring with the Noank Rowing Club. Intro classes for grades 8-12 start on March 27th. Email [email protected] for more info or register for classes at www.noankrowing.org/classes.

SCHOOL RENOVATION PRESENTATION- Please check your child’s backpack for a letter from Mr. Sam Kilpatrick III, our Director of Buildings and Grounds for the district. This letter includes information about the upcoming informational presentation which will be held at LHS on Wednesday, March 29th in the auditorium at 7:15 p.m. Video recordings of the presentation will be available to those who are unable to attend. It’s hard to believe that these projects will be underway shortly. I encourage anyone interested in hearing more detail about the project and its phases to come to this meeting.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL CLUB- Beginning on Thursday, March 30th after school until 3:30 we will be having a girls’ volleyball club. Our volunteer coordinator of this club is Mr. Rich  Duwelius, who is the LHS Varsity Girls’ Volleyball coach and former gold medalist on the USA Mens’ Volleyball team back in the day. This is a great opportunity for our girls interested in participating in the volleyball program in high school. Sign-ups will be in the office next week, and any girl interested is encouraged to participate.

CYCLING CLUB- There will be another parent information night for the Ledyard Middle School Cycling Club on Thursday, March 30th at 6:00 P.M.  We will meet in Mrs.Gallagher's room in the Red Cluster.  Please join us if you're interested in learning more about this exciting club.
