LHS FOOTBALL MEETING- There will be a football team meeting on June 12th from 6:30pm-7:00pm in the main cafeteria at Ledyard High School.  Important team, player, and guardian information/updates will be shared in order to remain on the same page heading into the 2017 season.  Please contact Coach Jonathan Hernandez with any questions ((O) 860-464- 9600, Ext. 6146, (C) 469-657- 6484, or [email protected])

LHS CYCLING CLUB- Attention students interested in riding with the Ledyard High School cycling club. They have bikes to loan out and are riding 8 times in the next two weeks. Check out their calendar for dates/times www.ledyardcycling.org and contact Kurt Jannke [email protected] with questions.

SCREENAGERS- A special viewing of the documentary “Screenagers- Growing up in the Digital Age” will be shown on Thursday, June 22nd from 5:30-7:00 p.m. This is obviously after school gets out for summer break which means it will be very easy to overlook such an event. However, this is an issue that is affecting children across the world, and the implications are far reaching. Please consider attending this viewing if you are interested in hearing/learning about this very important topic. This is being sponsored by the Ledyard Prevention Coalition in partnership with the Ledyard Public Schools.

ACE ACADEMY- Information about the ACE Academy, an Aviation Career Education Summer Camp, is available in the main office. This week-long summer day camp is held at the Groton/New London Airport. Students will be building and testing models, taking field trips, meeting aerospace professionals and taking a real flight. This camp is being run by Mr. Sharack, who has taught in Ledyard schools and who wants to motivate young teens to pursue aerospace-related careers.

LIFT SUMMER CAMP – Attention seventh grade students: Applications are available for a 4-day overnight summer camp for the Science and Technology Magnet High School in New London. Students will participate in engineering and science activities, listen to guest speakers and take field trips to colleges and businesses specializing in STEM fields. The cost of the camp is $200. Applications must be signed by Mrs. Pollin. They can be picked up in the main office, or guidance.

GENCYBER AGENT ACADEMY- It is a pleasure to announce an opportunity occurring this summer for students interested in technology who will be in the 9-12th grade in the fall. The University of New Haven’s College of Engineering received a grant for students to attend a cyber security summer academy sponsored by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation. It's a one-week day camp called GenCyber Agent Academy (https://cyberagent.newhaven.edu) that will run the week of July 24th – July 29th, 2017. The program is granted-funded, so accepted students will participate for free. The application deadline is  May 15th. If your child is interested in a technology field, this could be a great experience and a nice mention on their college applications. Please check the aforementioned link for more information.

FROM THE NURSE- Mrs. Grace’s last day will be June 20th. Anyone who needs a copy of a physical or immunizations must let her know before then. Unfortunately, there will be no access to her office after that day. Please contact her directly at [email protected] with any questions.
