DANCE WORKSHOP- Any students who have dance experience and are interested in participating in either the Lip Sync Battle and/or Shrek the Musical are invited to stay after school Monday the 16th with Mrs. Okosky. Students will receive information about what these events entail and how they may be able to participate. Please contact Mrs. Okosky at [email protected] with questions.


WEEKLY TECH TIP- Can you tell the difference paid content (advertising) and real news?

Watch the first minute of this video to learn more (It will end after about a minute). Pay attention to words like "Paid Content" or "Sponsored" because they indicate they are going to try to persuade you to purchase something. #dontbefooled


PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD- The Prudential Spirit of Community Award is America’s largest youth recognition program based solely on volunteer service.  It recognizes students who have participated in meaningful activities for their communities. Students who have done so over the past year are invited to fill out an online application at spirit.prudential.com or nassp.org/spirit by November 7th. The application may then be submitted to Mr. Pomroy. The school’s top volunteer (if he/she has met a minimum number of volunteer hours) will become eligible to win $1,000 and an all-expenses paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C.


LEDYARD HIGH SCHOOL AGRI-SCIENCE- The Agri-Science Department will be hosting an 8th Grade Open House to all students who are interested in learning more about our Regional Agri-Science Program on November 9th from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Interested eighth grade students and their parents should plan to attend this event. Notes from the PTC:


LEDYARD COLOR ME FALL FEST - Some quick logistics (1) Early check in will be Friday, 10/13 from 4-8 pm in the field next to Ledyard Center School. You will be able to pick up your event t-shirt, prize packets students may have earned and your registration band which must be worn the day of the event for anyone participating in the color walk/run. We will also be selling event bandanas for $5. (2) Check in will begin at 8am Saturday, 10/14 with the color walk/run kicking off at 10am. (3) Parking will be clearly marked. Upper parking lot by the school will be closed. There are some FREE fun family activities lined up including inflatable obstacle course, bounce houses, hayrides, pony rides, pumpkin painting, face painting and touch-a-truck. We also have some great food/sweets/drink options lined up from The Bridge Market, Big Belly Kelly's BBQ & Catering, Robin's Ice Cream, Zest, J&R's Old Fashioned Lemonade and more. There will also be cotton candy and popcorn (free), Krispy Kreme Donuts being sold by LHS class of 2020 and the Boy Scouts will also be selling gourmet popcorn.

 

CORN MAZE FUNDRAISER- Gather up some friends and support the LMS PTC at the Preston Corn Maze! We have two dates: October 14th and 15th. On Saturday the 14th, you can even go for a flashlight maze! The last entry time is at 8:30 pm.. You must mention LMS PTC when paying admission for us to earn any of the funds. Cost is $9 for ages 12 and over, and $6 for ages 4-11.
